I can’t believe it’s already week 3 of my month of love for my happiness project. It’s going by really quickly. Last week I mentioned that for my resolution on self-love I would be working through May Cause Miracles: A 40-Day Guidebook of Subtle Shifts for Radical Change and Unlimited Happiness. This book is basically a guide on how to work A Course In Miracles into your daily life. I expected it to be a powerful force in my life. But I didn’t expect it to be so powerful so soon.
So far the daily affirmations, meditations and journaling exercises have really helped me. One of the most powerful things I have noticed is that when someone treats me in a way that would normally just piss me the hell off, I’m able to just let it go. I’m able to have compassion for the other person and not take what they have done personally like I normally would. We are all dealing with our own shit, you know? And that’s okay. People aren’t perfect and that’s okay.
This shift, of not taking things so personally has made a HUGE change in my level of happiness and my energy level. Taking things personally really saps your energy! I’m loving May Cause Miracles and I’m pretty sure that once I finish it I’ll go ahead and buy A Course in Miracles.
The other major “aha” moment I had will really make you laugh. So, you all know how I hoard craft supplies? And jeans, and books…. Well, yesterday in the shower and I a completely random epiphany where I realized that I hold on to things because I am afraid that If I need them again later in life, I won’t be able to afford to buy them again. Now the fact of the matter is, if I haven’t used something in 5 years, I’m probably done with it for life. So I should just donate it. But aside from all that stuff cluttering our home, that is a MAJOR limiting belief. I am so happy to recognize it and I’m ready to move on. There will be major house cleaning and donating going on in our home this weekend. You can bet on it. (My mamma will be so proud.)
So, let’s chat. Are there any books that have changed your life lately? Tonight I’m going to see Danielle Laporte speak and I’m getting a copy of her book The Fire Starter Sessions: A Soulful + Practical Guide to Creating Success on Your Own Terms. I’ll report back next week.
Now dear friends, don’t forget this is a bloghop, check out the other bloggers and their happiness projects and please, feel free to join in!
The above prayer is from A Course In Miracles.
